Favorite quotes:

1. Negative self-talk is the one thing that holds us back. It is something that we do to ourselves that we would never allow someone else to do to us or to talk to our children that way.

2. We’re empowered to do things because of the power of the Holy Spirit and the faith that we have. If we just assumed we couldn’t, it would be like negating the thing we say we know is true.

3. If you don’t nip it in the bud at “I can’t do this”, it goes from “I can’t do this” to “I’m not enough”. If you feel like you’re not enough and you don’t nip that in the bud you feel like nothing is ever going to change. And when you feel like nothing is ever going to change, that is the definition of hopelessness.

In this episode I answer these questions:

1. What do you think of the advice that we should just follow our passion? (48:22)

2. Why do Christians say they love Jesus and still act like horrible people? (54:19)

3. When you are working with your business coaching clients, what habits or beliefs are the ones that make some of them unable to succeed? (57:53)

Episode #25- The Year of Living Happy

Episode #25 with Alli Worthington.png

This is a special episode of the show because it is launch week for my new book, The Year of Living Happy.

I like to think of this show as “everything you ever wanted to know about happiness but didn’t know who to ask!”

I’m answering your questions, and I don’t hold anything back! You’ll learn why I believe some popular sayings about happiness that are shared on Pinterest and from the pulpit are unbiblical, my own struggles with overcoming depression and finding happiness, and why as women of God we have the responsibility to invest in our happiness.

In this episode I share-

Why I think the statement “Do more of what makes you holy not happy” is unbiblical.

The answer to the debate on if there is a difference between happiness and joy.

My own struggles with depression and hope for those who live with it.

Click here to listen on Soundcloud.

Questions I answered in this episode-

1. Can you please settle the do more what makes you happy versus holy debate! (2:58)

2. What is the difference between joy and happiness? (7:08)

3. Is contentment the same as happiness? (12:15)

4. Do you believe that those struggling with depression can be happy again? (14:40)

5. I’m a stay at home mom, something I’ve prayed for but I lost my joy. How do I fight back? (17:49)

6. I’m obeying God but what He’s asking me to do isn’t making me happy. What do I do? (25:19)

7. How do you find happiness when all doors close and everybody claims its God’s will? (26:36)

8. How do I find happiness when I don’t think God is answering my prayers? (26:45)

Quotes from this episode-

1. The statement that God wants you to be holy and not happy is unbiblical.

2. There is no happiness on this earth. No real, authentic, long-lasting, meaningful happiness outside of God's will for us.

3. There is nothing in the bible that separates the concept of joy and happiness. They have one in the same meaning according to the original languages of scripture.

4. When we separate God from our happiness and from our longing for happiness, we undermine the Christian worldview. -Randy Alcorn

5. We need to trust that God is good. Even when things seem bad, that God puts us on a path and a journey that may not be especially happy at the moment, but He has good for us. That His desire for us is happiness in Him.

I hope you love this special solo episode and run out to Target this week and pick up The Year of Living Happy. Get one for yourself and 9 of your friends. :)

Favorite quotes:

  1. I never felt like I had to have it all together, I would have liked that, but that’s not the story that God has ever given me.

  2. The “But God” parts are the best parts of life. We miss the “But God” parts when we are trying to measure up and achieve. We’re looking for self-esteem but we really just need the supernatural power of God.

  3. The greatest way to get over ourselves is to think about other people and to fix our eyes on Jesus. How do you that in the greatest form? Take risks.

  4. Until you know that God catches you, it’s harder to jump. Once you know that He catches you, you jump more readily and take a higher cliff.

  5. I am a mistake maker. It’s what I do. However, God has given me my worth, not that mistake maker place in my soul...I don’t let it become my identity and my worth.

  6. If something is from God, you can know that all of Hell will come against it.

In this episode I answer these questions:

1. Do you ever feel extra pressure to not ever feel busy, worried, or unhappy because you write books on how to overcome it? How do you balance living what you teach? Whenever I try to teach on anything, I feel like a hypocrite because I can’t walk it out perfectly. (48:10)

2. How can I help my kids develop their own faith and not just depend on my faith? (51:07)

3. How do you know when it’s the right time to quit your job and go full in on your running your own business. (54:0)

Episode #21- Craig Groeschel

Episode #21 with Craig Groeschel.png

I’m with the powerhouse paster Craig Groeschel talking about the truths that we need to hold on to when we are walking through the dark seasons of life, what healthy faith looks like, and his surprising favorite recommendations.

In this episode we discuss:

1. Where God is in the midst of our pain and trials.

2. That doubt can be part of healthy faith.

3. The steps to take when you’re in a dark season of life.

Favorite quotes-

1. I’m hoping to give other people in the faith permission to tell the truth, not to deny the doubts. Even at times, embrace them. But don’t run away from God when you have them run to Him and let Him comfort you in the middle of it.

2. When you wrestle you don’t run away from God. You continue to embrace Him and press into Him. That’s where you build real trust and real faith. Not in the mountaintops - you enjoy God in the mountaintops, but you get to know him in the valleys.

3. There are great people of faith, that we look up to in the Bible, that doubted God. That lamented and cried out to God. That screamed out to God and didn’t understand. Yet they were very close to God.

4. Our faith shouldn’t be in the perfect desired result of God delivering what we want. As we really, really mature, our faith is in Him. If we want his power and He gives us grace it’s because His grace is sufficient and it’s what we need.

5. Ultimately our faith isn’t based on getting what we want from God or in life. Our faith has to be in his character, his goodness, his nature, his grace. Our faith is in him. That he is good and his way is perfect.

Bonus: After the interview join me as I answer your questions about life, faith, and business.

In this episode, I answer these questions-

1. What is your policy on chores in your house with all of those boys? (21:47)

2. Why am I afraid to pray out loud? I live in fear of people asking me to pray. (26:47)

3. How can I improve my Instagram engagement? (29:28)

1. Often times we think our ending is the end, but that’s when we need to put a comma and we can sit down or stand up. I’m just really thankful in the moment that I stood up.

2. When we show up for one another, the world can change and that’s why Noonday exists because women showed up for one another.

3. You matter. Your life is not small and when you own your voice you get to use your influence and your influence is meant not just for your sister down the street but for your sister around the globe.

4. Faith is being able to move forward and not know what the outcome is but know who holds the outcome.

5. I am not going to plan to fall because you know what, we don’t have to plan to fall. If there are any guarantees in life, it’s that you are going to fall. Instead, I’m just gonna step off the cliff and fly.

Episode #19 with Jennifer Dukes Lee.png

I’m with my favorite Bible teaching DJ Jennifer Dukes Lee today talking about happiness, boundaries, going from busy to best, and having it all under control

In this episode we discuss:

1. Why and how to make a list of core boundaries for your everyday life

2. Is there a difference between happiness and being joyful as a Christian?

3. How to consult with God about what to do every day

Click here to listen on Google Play.

Click here to listen on Stitcher.

Favorite quotes:

1. Scientifically we were made to be happy and by our creator, we are created for happiness

2. God empowered us to do more, so I was like, "Lord what does it look like for me to let go of what I am not supposed to be hanging on to, to hang on tighter to those things you have really called me to do, and find this inner peace I once had in you, Lord that I forgot was even possible."

3. Because I am a list maker I use to put God at the top of the list which sounds like a neat thing to do because I would do my little quiet time and put an X in the box but then what I saw happening was God became an item on my todo list instead of him being involved in all areas of my life, what I have been trying to do  is instead of making him an item on the list, I am asking for His instead of giving him mine.

4. We have to use our tools to change our lives.

5. Grumpy Christians make terrible advertisements for Jesus.

Bonus: After the interview join me as I answer your questions about life, faith, and business.

In this episode, I answer these questions-

1. What did you do for birthday parties when your kids were little? Birthday parties stress me out. (44:32)

2. What do you do when you don’t want to do what God tells you to do? (48:39)

3. How do I know when it’s time to hire employees? I just started my small business and want to make a plan. (56:10)
