How to Develop Strength
Hey Friend! This week, I am sharing another special message from my book, Standing Strong, that is especially relevant right now in developing strength.
On today’s post, we’ll dive into Chapter 1 of my book, Standing Strong: A Woman’s Guide to Overcoming Adversity and Living with Confidence. This chapter is titled “You Were Born for This,” and I hope you will find it super encouraging in how to develop strength.
If you are in a season of life with adversity, with struggles, you have battled with a lack of self-confidence, or you feel God nudging your heart toward something in the future, this post is for you!
It is my sincere hope for you that this chapter brings peace about the future and encourages you to move forward with the things God has placed on your heart. With God, we have everything we need to do what he has called us to do. When we step into our gifts and our callings, we can change the world around us.
Let’s dive in as I share how to develop strength.
The messages today’s generation of women are receiving makes me so angry. Because I believe for us to be fully alive as women, we need to be tapped into our creator, receiving power, wisdom, and direction from God.
God is calling his daughters to more. He’s not calling us to be the heroes of our own stories. He is the hero of our story. God is calling women to partner with Him and to be a force in this world. The message of God and the popular message of this world couldn’t be more different. The outcomes of these two different messages, one being: “You can go girl; it’s all up to you.” Or “You go, Jesus is in you and will empower you to slay the giants.”
They may look similar because they both empower women to rise up and step out and accomplish great things in this world. But one is based solely on an individual’s capacity. While the other is expeditiously more powerful and lasting because it brings together a woman and the power of God in her life.
Now is the time to reject the former and embrace the latter. To start taking action, reject lies, step up, dream big, be brave, learn how to fight, and stand strong. Because the power of The Holy Spirit is in us.
I believe self-doubt and adversity have held us back for long enough. But the good news is the ground beneath us is shifting, thank God. Women are rising up and waking to the knowledge that we were created with a powerful calling. We are women of God, standing strong together, no longer willing to accept what others say about us. And no longer content to live under the limits that have been set for us. We are rejecting the story we believed about our lives. And we are placing it with God’s script for us. We are waking up and making the decision that self-doubt has held us back from what God has for us for long enough.
When I first sat down to write Standing Strong, I prayed over what God wanted me to share with you. Every time I prayed about the heart of this book, I heard my mom’s prayer for me as a young girl come to mind. She would pray that I would become a great woman of God. When I first heard it, or when I heard it for the 1000th time, I never appreciated that prayer. But that small phrase, “great woman of God,” has stuck with me. God has used it many times to remind me of my mother’s prayer and His calling on my life.
I believe that at this moment in history, God wants you to live out that prayer too. Now, how do we define a great woman of God?
“God has great plans for every woman but women of our generation are either held back by crippling self-doubt or diverted with this attractive message of self-empowerment.”
“Without Jesus, success is empty; it’s based on our own striving, and it leaves women feeling like they are lacking, have failed, or just aren’t enough to achieve their hopes and dreams.”
“The Holy Spirit tells us it’s time to stop playing small and to embrace the great gifts God has given us.”
“God has a habit of raising up great women in every era, and he wants you to join this lineage.”
“You were born for this – to shake off limitations that others have put on your life. You were born to tear down the beliefs you have about yourself that are wrong and you were born to embrace the calling that God is wooing you toward.”
