Erica spends her days on the New Ventures Team at 84.51° and her evenings as a Doctoral Student at Xavier University or as an Adjunct Professor at UC, teaching a class called Women in Finance. However, her favorite roles are being a daughter, sister, and friend. You can find her yelling Roll Tide! at a television, enjoying a long run, or writing–probably wrapped in a fuzzy blanket. An alumna of the Fulbright Program, she loves traveling and seeing the consistency of God and His love for people throughout the world. For over 10 years, she’s worked to create a world where every life has the chance to grow by helping women navigate their pregnancy decision with love, acceptance, and hope. As Founder and Chairwoman of the Alpha Life Pregnancy Center (www.alphalifepc.org), she leads a team whose mission is to ensure that no woman walks alone through her pregnancy decision. Over the years, Vera spent a great deal of time working with women held back by shame, insecurities, brokenness, heartache, rejection, guilt, and unworthiness. Combining core women’s issues, her personal life experiences, and her clients’ experiences, Vera wrote a women’s curriculum titled, Beauty From Ashes: My Journey from Broken to Beautiful. She transitioned the curriculum to book format called Your Second Chapter: Moving From Stuck to Peace, Purpose, and Productivity.
Vera is a wife, mom of two, a licensed counselor, women’s ministry leader, and business owner. She lives on a sweet little farm in the Bayou country of South Louisiana. These roles are a wild ride at times and definitely call for me to wear many hats, but God, boundaries, and balance make it all possible.
