Hello, friends! This week, I posed a powerful question during a recent client getaway: If I wanted to make 85-year-old me miserable, what would I do? It sparked incredible conversations and reflections, and I believe it’s a question worth exploring together.
As a leader and coach, I know that the most impactful insights often come not from having all the answers, but from asking the right questions. True success isn’t about secret formulas; it’s about a wise counselor helping you uncover the truths that lead to growth and fulfillment.
So, let’s dive into this question. If you took a close look at your daily life and decisions, would you conclude that your current path would lead to a miserable future version of yourself? If not, great! You’re on the right track. But if so, it’s time for some honest reflection.
Inspired by the work of Bronnie Ware, a nurse who cared for the terminally ill, I want to share some common regrets people express as they approach the end of their lives:
With these regrets in mind, let’s turn back to our central question. What actions will help ensure that 85-year-old you is happy and fulfilled? Here are a few areas to consider:
You don’t need to overhaul your life overnight. Start small. Choose three simple changes or habits to adopt that will lead you closer to the life you envision for 85-year-old you.
Remember, small changes can lead to significant results!
Reflecting on my own journey, I realized that after losing my grandfather, I wanted to make the most of my years. I’ve committed to getting healthy and staying active, ensuring that 85-year-old me will be full of energy and vitality.
As you think about your future, keep in mind that this journey is about progress, not perfection. Write down your thoughts, pray on it, and truly consider what steps you need to take to live your best life today.
I’m grateful we can share this time each week to invest in ourselves. You’re making an impact in this world, and I believe in the incredible potential within you.
Keep stepping up, and showing up, and loving well because you can’t break a woman who gets her strength from God.
